The final for the Cup of Bulgaria “Ford Moto Pfohe” will be played in Stara Zagora, the Executive Committee of BFU decided. The match has to be on 24th May. The management of BFU gave green light the terrain of the match to remain “Beroe” stadium. Recently the police demanded the match to be moved to another city because of the fight between fans, which started after the match from the championship between Beroe and Spartak. Both teams were punished to play before empty tribunes because of the incidents. In the beginning the season Stara Zagora was chosen to be a host of the final match in the tournament for the Cup of Bulgaria.
The Executive Committee of BFU defined Stanimir Stoilov for a selectionist of the national team and Dimitar Penev – for chief manager. Stoilov will lead the team in the next two matches – the European qualifications against Belarus on 2nd and 6th June and after that will continue his work with Levski. After the matches against Belarus will be assigned another selectionist. The engagement of Dimitar Penev is permanent. In the sports-technical staff remains the present assistant-coach Krasimir Bezinski. The President of the football head office Borislav Mihailov has had consultations with Bulgarian and foreign specialists for the vacant post of a selectionist, after the retirement of Hristo Stoichkov. “I have mandate from the Executive Committee to search and select variants for coach of the national team – explained Mihailov – there are warrants for a Bulgarian as well as for a foreigner. Our purpose is to find a famous name, in case he is from abroad” Borislav Mihailov has had a conversation with Krasimir Balakov, coach of the Swiss Grasshopper, but before the retirement of Hristo Stoichkov. “Balakov has told me that if he takes the leading of the national team, he prefers this to happen from the beginning of the qualifications cycle – the President of BFU announced – But for us it is important to find the person, who can develop the potential of our team. I still think, that we have real chances to rank for Euro 2008. We have not set a final term for finding a coach for the national team, but I hope that will happen in summer. You know that on 22nd August we have a control-match with Wales and I hope that we will have a coach till then.”
