Panasonic to partner with historic Hamburg SV from beginning of next Bundesliga football season

Hamburg / 4 June 2008 - Panasonic is expanding its sport engagements to include a partnership with a football club: starting next season, the Japanese electronics manufacturer is an official partner of Hamburg's Bundesliga club, HSV. Panasonic will equip HSV with flat-screen TVs from its successful Viera series, and contribute to the football club's various events and incentives. The new partnership extends the electronics manufacturer's sponsorship activities to yet another sport.

"The partnership with the HSV fits perfectly with our existing sport activities, and we already look forward to an exciting Bundesliga season," said Michael Langbehn, Manager Trade Marketing and PR at Panasonic Germany. Panasonic has partnered with the Olympic Games for years, presented the 2008 kick-off event at Hamburg's Rothenbaum tennis tournament, supports the Panasonic Toyota Racing team in Formula 1, sponsors the Colgate World Cup windsurfing event on the island of Sylt, and supports beach volleyball by backing the Smart Beach Tour. Its sponsorship of Bundesliga football is a logical continuation of the electronics manufacturer's strongly sports-oriented corporate philosophy.

HSV is equally pleased with the partnership: "We want our fans to experience the matches as intensely as possible, whether at home or at the HSH Nordbank Arena, and Panasonic provides the ideal technical conditions," emphasised Katja Kraus, a member of the HSV board.

"Panasonic stands for reliable, long-term partnerships in sports sponsoring and we are thrilled to have signed this globally successful company as a strong partner for HSV," adds SPORTFIVE's Hendrik Schiphorst.
