S.V.-RSA Bulgaria was an exclusive partner of the German media
concern SPORTFIVE GmbH & CO.KG on the territory of Bulgaria for 12 years.
After long negotiations a new agreement for the TV broadcasting of
the matches from the Bulgarian championship was signed on August 22, 2008. The rights for the next
5 years were bought at a record-breaking amount by TV2. Since season 2009-2010 the television will
become the owner of the full rights, as till then BNT has a signed agreement to broadcast one match
at each round with the right to choose which match to broadcast. For the present season TV2
receives the rights to broadcast seven of the eight matches in each round, excluding the match,
which is chosen by BNT. The President of the Professional Football League and Manager of the
company, which is the rights’ owner of our native championship “S.V.-RSA Bulgaria” Valentin Mihov
and the President of the Bulgarian Football Union Borislav Mihailov officially signed the contract
with TV2’s representatives before dozens of journalists in “Rodina” hall at “Vassil Levski”
stadium. “It happens so rarely to sign such an agreement and we thank our partner for helping us in
this very difficult moment”, Mihov commented. “Together with the efforts of Mr Mihov and of the
working group, with the active participation of Todor Batkov and Grisha Ganchev, we sign a contract
without any analogue in the history of the Bulgarian football”, Mihailov added. “The first weeks we
will start with the broadcast of one match directly, but gradually together with our colleagues
from RING we will try to show the whole football variety in the country”, Yana Ivanova,
Deputy-director of TV2 said. After signing the agreement the clubs will receive much more funds
from the TV rights. But in reply to that the clubs have to fulfill definite conditions and will
have repair their stadiums in order to ensure trouble-free and civilized TV broadcast. “The clubs
will receive a part of the contracted amount for TV rights in advance in order to make the repairs”,
announced Konstantin Bazhdekov, an Executive Director of Levski team and a Head of the working
group of the rights negotiations. The rest of the funds will be allocated between the clubs
according to how often their matches are watched and according to the number of points won in the
final ranking.
After giving the rights for TV broadcasting to TV 2, “S.V.-RSA
Bulgaria has the following rights:
Rights for general sponsor of the Bulgarian football championship
Rights for main sponsors of the Bulgarian football
championship
